Quite simply one of the most beautiful tables you''ll ever see, created in Srinagar, Kashmir, India, sometime during the mid to late 1800s and still bearing the original makers label
The piece carved from solid Walnut with great detail. The carving and detail work are of the highest calibre The table looks to have been created with a Scottish Theme of Thistles and Fern?? Although the tree leaf type seem a mystery, if correct it does suggest it was made to order for one of the Scottish regiments officers or a family of very high standing located in the area at that time, which would make sense.
The table measures 67cm x 67cm to the top and is 67cm high also.
The base is created from four tapering panels, all beautifully carved.
The table is in exceptionally good condition for its age, with expected patina, but no actual damage, cracks or abrasions, a very rare thing.
Please study the photos to truly appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that created this
